Responsibilities

The Parks Division is responsible for the maintenance of approximately 88 acres of various turf, playground, and hard surface play areas.

The Parks Division works with the Recreation Department and the school Athletic Department to ensure that all fields are properly marked and groomed. This includes fields and courts for football, baseball, softball, field hockey, lacrosse, track and field, tennis, basketball, and soccer. Other seasonal uses of City parks include two splash pads, picnic facilities, and in-ground grills. Playground equipment is maintained throughout the year on an as-needed basis. Recently, the Division hired an independent certified playground inspection company to assess any safety hazards of all playgrounds in the City and as a result, remedied several of immediate safety hazards.

The Division uses the services of outside contractors to assist in parks maintenance and turf maintenance.
